Unify Christian Conference 2026 - Budapest
From 5th–8th March, representatives from Belfast YMCA attended the Unify Conference 2026 in Budapest, Hungary, hosted by the small but incredible team from YMCA Hungary.
Unify is a European YMCA Christian mission network which exists to bring people together for prayer, worship and mutual encouragement, while strengthening the Christian mission of the YMCA. The network also supports Youth Unify camps, which take place each summer, and gathers every two years for a wider conference. This year’s conference in Budapest was held under the theme “Beyond Barriers.”
A real highlight of the conference was the opportunity to pray, worship and learn alongside YMCA colleagues and young people from more than 30 nations. Across different cultures, languages and contexts, there was a strong sense of unity in a shared faith in Jesus and a shared passion to see Christian mission remain at the heart of the YMCA.
One of the most powerful aspects of the gathering was hearing from young people about what faith means to them in contested spaces and in countries where religious expression can be tightly restricted. Their courage, authenticity and determination to live out their faith was deeply inspiring.
The Unify movement is part of a wider and growing Christian mission network within the global YMCA, and it was encouraging to be reminded that Belfast YMCA is part of something much bigger than ourselves.
At Belfast YMCA, we welcome everyone unconditionally, whether they have faith or not, and that remains central to who we are. At the same time, we continue to value and invest in opportunities for young people to explore faith, ask questions and grow, staying connected to the original Christian mission on which YMCA was founded.
